Pieces in Local Shops

A look at some pieces that will be making their way into the etsy shop (there's white camellia all pretty and crystal clear! I knew I had a great photo of it somewhere!) The fuchsia pinks are actually with the collection shown next... take a peek!

This set of beautiful pendants can be located at June Miller's store Art and Junk in downtown Melbourne, Florida!

New Photos of Previous Custom Orders

This one of the two boys is infinitely more clear than the previous version. I just love it. In fact, I've been doing more figure pendants recently. Keep an eye out for them to appear in my shop.

This is white camellia, I'm sad to say it wasn't near as good a shot as I had expected. Difficulties with camera to computer screens. It looked focused super tiny... oh well next time I run into her wearing it I will take another photo (hopefully with more clarity!)

Both pendants were done in cerulean blue.

Deflowering

Over the next few days I'm going to post images to the book The Recently Deflowered Girl by Hyacinthe Phyppe. I forget exactly where I first found the images, if I remember I'll be sure to credit the person right away. I'm going to skip over the cover and interior introduction for now and post them at the end.

Today's Deflowerment: Blind Date

I'm surprised the last name wasn't Smith, aren't you? lol

Fabulous News!

I will be showcasing some of my work with Art and Junk in downtown Melbourne, Florida, USA. Learn more about her shop in my mom's writeup of Finding a Wonderful Gallery Shop.

It always pays to have moms. I know this is a day late for mother's day, but it's true nonetheless no matter what day it is.

Moms make great advertisers (be doubly sure to supply them with tons of business cards.) June saw my floral art jewelry that my mother was wearing and inquired about it. You know how that went.

I've been busy working on new pieces. Lots of bright colors for summer. Yellows and purples and blues. I've also done a few custom pieces. I'd like to take a moment and share a comment from the woman who bought one drawn in two colors (three if you count the white of the paper) for Mother's Day:

"I love the artwork you did with the pendent and I love the color and the frame. Thank you so much."

Next time I will share the photos of a mother with her daughter showing off the daughter's new pendants.

Art Portfolio

You might be interested in seeing my art portfolio - I'm working on a few new pieces.

I made Wild Daisy and like with Clouded Geranium, I decided that the original drawing needed to be expanded. I have a video I'm working on to explain. I'll post it in a few days.

Take care!

Waterproof

As an online seller I have had more trouble with the concept of waterproof than anything else. My jewelry is not waterproofed and that seems to deter a lot of consumers. So I'm going to pose this question:

How many people will only buy jewelry that is waterproof?

If you answered yes:

Why? Is it because you perceive that it is of higher quality?

The concept that waterproof jewelry means high quality is a myth.

Don't believe me? Hear me out:

Unless you buy low end costume jewelry, ie pieces made out of cheap materials like shells and hemp, it's not waterproofed. Even 'professional', store brand, jewelry from a jewelers is not waterproofed. It's not waterproofed if it has metal in it. Metal ages, gains patina based on contact with oil from our skins and from contact with water. It may not happen right away, but you can bet your bottom that it's going to happen especially if the owner is persistent in wearing the piece in the water.

My pieces have the added fragility of also being composed out of paper. The design is inked on thick high quality artisan paper with high quality artisan pens. I protect the design with sturdy, clear, non-yellowing, UV protected laminate because resin dulls the ink and cheapens the overall affect of the artwork.

And yes, I do think of my jewelry as artwork, not craft. My jewelry is unique and handcrafted, there are no duplicates of any design. My work is more unique than mythic rare Magic Cards (nerdy game from high school). You will never be able to find this somewhere else so don't let the phrase, 'not waterproof,' fool you because you'll end up missing out on a wonderful opportunity to own a piece of collectible wearable art.
